When is the next long weekend in the UAE? Eid Al Adha 2024 break is when it shall be.

With June around the corner,  UAE, residents can start planning for a potential extended weekend.

The holiday begins with Arafat Day, which marks the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage. Falling on the ninth day of the Islamic month of Dhuʻl-Hijjah, Arafat Day holds great significance for pilgrims visiting Mecca.

When will Eid Al Adha 2024 fall?

While the specific date for Arafat Day is subject to confirmation by a moon sighting committee, it is anticipated to occur around Saturday, June 15, or Sunday, June 16.

Following Arafat Day, Muslims around the world observe Eid Al Adha.  This joyous occasion, occurring on the 10th day of Dhuʻl-Hijjah, is marked by communal prayers, feasting, and acts of charity. Families and friends come together to share meals and celebrate, while also extending kindness to those in need.

In 2024, Eid Al Adha is projected to commence on the evening of Sunday, June 16, or Monday, June 17, depending on the moon. The celebration traditionally lasts for three days, providing ample time for individuals to engage in religious observances and spend quality time with loved ones.

For employees in the UAE, the holiday brings the possibility of an extended weekend. If Arafat Day falls on June 15, a Saturday, residents may enjoy a four-day break, with the subsequent three days as holidays. But if Arafat Day occurs on June 16, Eid Al Adha will commence on Monday, June 17, followed by two additional holidays, granting residents a rare five-day weekend.
