Although this was a nice short week, the weekend is still a welcome relief. This weekend all focus is on the fast approaching season of giving. While many expats will be missing the traditional cold and cosy winter atmosphere, there is no shortage of festive cheer in Dubai…
ALL OF THE LIGHTS
A beautiful tree arrived in the office this week, and now it’s really starting to feel a lot like Christmas. Our inner child is resurfacing and we want to soak up as much of the seasonal cheer as possible. That is why we’re headed to Raffles Dubai on Friday for their annual tree lighting event. With a 9m tree, a 6m hand-painted advent calendar, irresistible aromas of gingerbread and mince pies and heartwarming carols, we’re not missing this!

SANTA’S HELPERS
The Media City Amphitheatre has been transformed into a winter wonderland for the Dubai Christmas Festival. Avoid the usual shopping tantrums by keeping the kids entertained while you complete some important gift shopping done. Expect to see the jolly Mr Claus and his elven helpers, snow (yes!), a fun fair, pantomime, delicious baked goods and local designer artisanal pieces among other wondrous things!

PAPER WONDERLAND
The Magazine Shop is hosting a Magazine Fair on Saturday at The Archive in Safa Park. This little establishment works hard to promote both local and international independent magazines.
We’ll be heading down there to support the creatives behind the exciting local and regional niche titles including The Outpost, WTD Magazine, The Carton, We Are Here and TheState. There will also be plenty to eat including a BBQ as well as entertainment in the form of a live swing jazz band and quirky vintage and vinyl buys.
