We go inside the wardrobes and homes of the region’s most sought-after trendsetters and tastemakers
Who: Teresa Karpinska
Age: 33
Nationality: Swedish
Profession: Fashion stylist and blogger styledrifter.com
“Fashion is visually being able to express yourself on a daily basis,” explains Dubai stylist and fashion maven Teresa Karpinska. And if Teresa’s apartment is anything to go by, she not only likes to express herself through her clothes and accessories, but through her homewares too. We just love her eclectic mix of unique and quirky products and trinkets, which are dotted around her bright and airy apartment.
In her favourite style du jour – denim cut offs, a cool pair of boots and an oversize knit – Karpinska, who describes her style as ‘bohemian de luxe’ is the perfect accessory to her apartment and her apartment, the perfect backdrop for her style.
We decided to snoop around and found out more about Karpinska, her style and her gorgeous eclectic home…
MY BEST BARGAIN
The coveted YSL logo sweatshirt. I got the last piece on sale in YSL in the Emirates Towers and it was 70 per cent off!
FAVOURITE HOMEWARES
I love everything LA/San Fran/Miami and for me, my vintage 1920s flamingo statue, conveys that vibe. He moves around a lot in the house and lives on different shelves from week to week.
WHERE I SHOP IN DUBAI
West L.A in Sunset Mall and Boutique 1 for their great end of season sales and also the homeware section of Bloomingdale’s.
WHY I LOVE MY JOB
To me, fashion is an art platform and being able to create and direct fashion editorial shoots, is very creatively fulfilling.
MY BEAUTY SECRETS
I swear by proper nutrition, I make sure I get 20 minutes a day of sun exposure, go make-up free whenever possible and boost my circulation by incorporating exercise into my daily routine.
CLOSET CONFIDENTIAL
I am a Virgo so that makes me a neat freak. My clothes are categorised by item and then colour coded. I even colour code my books!
MY CONVERSE COLLECTION
I love Converse, and my Missoni ones are the crown jewel. I bought them during a trip to Rome shortly after they got released.
FAVOURITE DESIGNERS
Phillip Lim and Isabel Marant, although I am also into mid range brands such as Elizabeth and James, Zadig & Voltaire, Genetic Denim for jeans and Raquel Allegra for distressed T-shirts. I have to admit too that I have a very weak spot for Missoni.
“My Paul Smith and McQueen pillows from the Rug Company in DIFC. So pretty!”
“I love to bake. These mini Madeleines with strawberries and white chocolate are yum!”
