July was all about the ‘Barbenheimer’ fever — but, unfortunately for the residents of the UAE, they only got to experience the dark Christopher Nolan side of it. After a much-awaited will-it-won’t-it, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is all set to release in the UAE.
After its worldwide release, Greta’s colourful explosion of feminism has been deemed the most successful film helmed by a female director.
Last month, as the fans were gearing up for a double show on a Friday, the cinema websites in the UAE pushed the release date with no explanation.
But after its humungous success across the globe, this news comes as a pleasant surprise that the cult film of the year has finally been green-lit in the UAE. It is all set to release on August 10, 2023.

“The UAE Media Council has granted the Barbie movie the approval to be screened in the UAE’s licensed cinemas after completing the necessary procedures in line with the standards of media content and the UAE age classification,” shared the concerned authorities.
It’s time to dust off your Barbiecore ensembles, gather your girl gang and pack the theatres in a flurry of pink. (Also, don’t forget to pick up the boys on the way).
