Tom Ford returns to the catwalk with an almighty Ka-Pow as he debuts his first official show for A/W13.
We welcomed Mr Ford with open arms as he made his big comeback on the catwalk with his first full fashion show in nine years. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and boy was it worth the wait. The iconic American designer gave us a tour around the world at London Fashion Week, injecting an abundance of colour, fur, shimmer, prints and glamour into our eveningwear wardrobes.
“SOMEONE I ADMIRE AND ADORE IS RIHANNA, WHEN DESIGNING MY COLLECTION, I ASK MYSELF, ‘WOULD RIHANNA WEAR THIS?’‘
A discreet card left on the gold seats lining the grand rooms of Lancaster House promised a “cross cultural multi ethnic” show, and he wasn’t kidding. What we got was a visual banquet of Pop Art-inspired, cowboy western fringing, head-to-toe sequins, thigh-high embroidered boots and even a zebra’s mane coming down the catwalk.
Glamorous models such as Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls strutted down the carpeted walkway to Paloma Faith’s Cold Stone Sober, while the cherry-picked onlookers, including Anna Wintour and husband and wife team Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, watched from the front row.
