“Sorry, only girls are invited this evening,” exclaims a strict Madame with an alluring grace reminiscent of Dame Judy Dench. She turns away a handsome man whose face is so chiselled it could chip ice.His companion, a striking glamazon, precedes into the retro Parisian cinema where a gaggle of the world’s most beautiful stand before the only man allowed admittance – Mr Karl Lagerfeld. The Chanel designer explains to the beautiful women awaiting their seats: “The film will be starting soon. The theme is Coco Chanel’s store opening in 1913, 100 years ago.”
The models slowly fill the cinema, taking their seats and excitedly chatting to their fellow colleagues and best friends. Each one of them is dressed head-to-toe in Chanel’s A/W13-14 pre-collection and there in lies the genius of this short movie.
Filmed by Karl, Women Only teasingly offers a sneak peek of the entertainment of Chanel’s A/W14 catwalk show – the video Once Upon A Time, also filmed by Karl – and also gives us with preview of the new collection.
Our favourite part of the film? Cara Delevingne with one of her many Karl Lagerfeld dolls. If you fancy your own Karl we love these from Mua Mua
