Schiaparelli made a statement return to Paris Couture Week.
For its Fall/Winter Haute Couture 2022 show, creative director Daniel Roseberry paid homage to Christian Lacroix’s 1987 debut collection for the house.
Adopting a modern approach to its pieces, the 95-year-old Parisian label showcased the decadence of the ’80s in a new light with show-stopping matador hats and velvet pieces.
The latest collection was also about challenging misconceptions and criticism of the fashion industry, which Roseberry himself explained.
“All of us who work in fashion know that much of the rest of the world think what we do is silly,” he said. “It’s a boring criticism, and we all argue otherwise, but if you think about it, fashion is silly at times. It’s also provocative, upending, challenging, and meaningful.”
As a perfect example of the Lacroix woman, the artist’s legacy continues to be carried down through immaculate craftsmanship, as seen on every muse that walked down the runway.
