London-based fashion brand QASIMI has unveiled its SS23 collection at London Men’s Fashion Week showcasing an Emirati flair.
Entitled ‘9.2 Million Km²’, the brand revisited its Middle Eastern heritage and culture through a series of timeless staples.
Inspired by the Tuareg people, as well as the Saharawi and Sahel regions of the Sahara Desert, drawing inspiration for the new season.
Traditional techniques and details were present in contemporary versions of the kandora and tarbousha. Military lines and technical silhouettes hinted at the brand’s DNA, while macramé was seen adorned with pearls, reminiscent of the deep-diving heritage of the Gulf’s fishing history. Nomadic earthy camouflages married with sartorial punches of purple, orange and pink accented the spirited collection.
“Legacy is not just about what you leave behind,” the brand’s creative director, Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi. “It’s also what you do going forward.”
Through the brand’s storytelling arc, Sheikha Hoor continues to honour the legacy of her late twin brother, Sheikh Khalid Al Qasimi, who founded Qasimi in 2008.
Never one to follow the status quo, Qasimi ushers in with the most transformative yet nostalgic collection seeking to unite all.
