Aya Ahmad, Founder of Fyne Jewellery, talks us through her beauty routine

Talk us through your morning routine.

I start my morning with a large glass of cold water followed by a homemade iced black coffee. Cold water is known to have many benefits like aiding in the release of toxins and increasing your metabolism. In terms of my beauty routine, I start with La Roche-Posay’s Cleansing Micellar Foaming Water for Sensitive Skin. I then apply Skin Laundry’s Balancing Antioxidant Toner with reusable cotton rounds by the Last Object. I finish off with the Calm Water Gel Moisturiser and Active Clearing Oil Free Matte SPF 30 by Dermalogica.

And how about your evening routine?

At least once a week, I drink warm water and turmeric for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. After following my usual cleansing routine, I add a few drops of oil to my moisturiser. My two favourite oils are Dermalogica’s Retinol Clearing Oil and Phyto Replenish Oil. I’ll then unwind and relax with my jade facial massage roller from Salt by Hendrix.

What are your go-to skincare products?

My go-to skincare brand is definitely Dermalogica! They have so many ranges for all skin types and do not use any artificial colours or fragrances and are certified vegan and cruelty-free.

Are you a fan of masks?

Yes! I love sheet masks but I try to avoid them because of their environmental impacts. I recently found the Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask by Skin Laundry which is also biodegradable – you can also pop them in the fridge so they’re nice and cool before use.

How would you describe your relationship with makeup?

I am a true minimalist! I feel most confident when I have simple, lightweight makeup on. Since I was a teenager, I struggled with hormonal acne – and so I avoid wearing full coverage foundation as it clogs my pores. Bare Minerals Original Loose Powder Foundation is perfect for my skin as it provides breathable coverage, while also promoting healthier-looking skin. What can always be found in your makeup bag? I can’t leave the house without mascara and eyeliner! I have been using Diorshow Waterproof Mascara and the Diorshow On Stage Waterproof Eyeliner for over a decade now.

Let’s talk fragrance. What are you loving at the moment?

I recently started wearing Gucci’s Flora Gorgeous Gardenia perfume and I love the floral, delicate playfulness to it.

How do you choose your evening fragrance?

Flowerbomb by Victor & Rolf is one of my signature scents and is perfect for an evening fragrance. I think the power of scent is remarkable – if you stick with one scent for many years, people start to associate that specific fragrance with your presence. Many perfumes remind me of my dearest friends, and it brings back beautiful memories.

Talk us through your hair routine.

My hair has always been very frizzy so it’s very difficult to manage in hot and humid countries. I recently started doing collagen treatments to remove the frizz which has helped a great deal. My go-to shampoo and mask is Kérastase Chronologiste Bain Régénérant (Black). This shampoo is a dream and can be used on coloured and treated hair because it’s also sulphate-free. I also apply the Kérastase Oléo-Curl leave-in cream before I use my Dyson Airwrap for styling.

What is the most unusual item in your makeup bag?

My brow shaver – which I use to remove any excess facial hair more than for my brows! I love how it also helps gently exfoliate my skin and remove any excess oil or debris.
