Everyone knows that a well-cooked fillet is any fashion lovers fodder and with a plethora of places to get a good steak in Dubai – meat lovers are spoilt for choice. Located in the heart of Souk Al Bahar, The Meat Co should be your next spot of choice if you want to dine with friends before a bit of dancing. It’s always full with lots of happy groups enjoying the extensive menu.
On arrival you are welcomed with your very own sign on your table which is fun and will set the tone for your day or night.
Be warned, it is a little noisy (in the evenings) but it makes up for it with a great ambience.
THE FOOD
Get a couple of starters to share just to whet your appetite; they are good but not as spectacular as the meat which is really why you should go to The Meat Co.
The choices of meats and cuts is lengthy so if your not sure whether to go blue, medium or well done or don’t know the difference between a grain-fed and Wagyu– the wait staff are super knowledgeable. We went straight for the Connoisseurs Choice Fillet which is from Australia and has a marble score of 7+. The price ranges from Dhs400 – Dhs550 (depending on how many grams you order) but trust us – it’s worth every dirham, especially when you get a side of spinach and creamy garlic béarnaise to accompany it.
We also tried the New Yorker which is a sirloin. While not as mouth watering as the Fillet, it was tasty, cooked to perfection and supported wonderfully with creamy mashed potatoes.
To finish, we shared the“Assorted Home Made Ice-Cream” which isn’t really homemade but delicious just the same.
PRO’s
They have a ‘Petite’ cut of meat for those watching their waistline and plenty of chicken, fish and vegetarian options if red meat isn’t your thing.
CON’s
Rice and potatoes are referred to as“starch” on the menu and by the staff. This is off putting as you you immediately feel guilty and order a salad instead.
BEST FOR
Good quality food in a great atmosphere and location. A perfect place for a group or girls night out.
