Sharing her excitement about being the first Miss World Somalia, Khadija admitted she was in disbelief.

“I can’t believe I’m the first miss World Somalia,” she said on Instagram back in November. “Anyone who knows me knows how long I’ve desired to compete in pageants and represent hijabi girls worldwide.

“I hope this inspires young hijabi girls and reminds them that they can dream as big as they aspire.”

Khadija is set to represent Somalia at the competition in a couple of months. The global pageant will take place on March 16, 2022 at Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot.

Known for giving back to the community, Khadija has always partnered with initiatives that upgrade the livelihood for many. From working with the UNHCR, she’s worked on supporting flood-prone areas and distributing aid kits for all the internally displaced people (IDP).

Having grown up in a refugee camp in Nairobi, she has always been grateful for living In a safe environment in her latter years, while having access to several opportunities that have led her to where she is in her life today.

Besides modelling, she’s regarded as a professional makeup artist and is currently pursuing a Psychology major at York University in Canada.

Citing Halima Aden as one of her role models and a source of inspiration, Khadija hopes to be the same for other women of future generations.
