As we all look forward to the highly-anticipated long weekend, a likely date for the beginning of Eid Al-Adha has been announced, giving us an estimation of when celebrations and reuniting with friends and family may happen.
According to Wam, the first day of Eid Al-Adha is likely to fall on Tuesday, July 20 this year.

It is noted by Engineer Muhammad Shawkat Odeh, Director of the International Astronomy Center, that the moon of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah is estimated to be born on Saturday, July 10 at 05.17am and it will be possible to see with a telescope from the Arab countries.
This means that either Saturday, July 10 and Sunday, July 11 will be the first day of the month of Dhul Hijjah. Therefore, it is likely that July 19 will be the Day of Arafah and Tuesday, July 20 will be the first day of Eid Al Adha.
Residents in the UAE are expected to have a 6-day long holiday on the occasion of Eid Al Adha this year, the longest holiday this year.
