As the relationship between sustainability and fashion continues to evolve, many of us have started to shift our shopping habits to either buying less, choosing ethical brands or diving into the second-hand market for designer gems.
Huda Beauty, founded by Huda and Mona Kattan, noticed an increased interested in pre-owned luxury and decided to partner with Middle East’s leading resale platform The Luxury Closet.
HB Investments (HBI) will become one of the principal shareholders of The Luxury Closet with Mona Kattan joining the board alongside existing shareholders.
“We are excited to partner with The Luxury Closet,” says Huda. “Sustainability is one of our primary focuses and a core tenant for the HBI portfolio. In our continued effort to champion responsible and eco-friendly businesses, we couldn’t be more enthusiastic about our partnership with The Luxury Closet.”
Founded in 2012, The Luxury Closet has expanded rapidly with 60 per cent of direct-to-consumer sales coming from the Middle East. The demand for second-hand designer pieces has increased even further in the past few months, with many shoppers seeing it as a sustainable and more affordable way to snap up some of their favourite brands.
“I have always been an advocate of circular fashion, and I am very excited about our endeavours with The Luxury Closet,” says Mona. “At the beginning of our entrepreneurial journey, we did not have the means to purchase Fashion Luxury items and thus opted for vintage and second-hand shops. I’m very pleased to be part of the board alongside likeminded individuals and a business that offers a unique service that fills a major gap in the market.”
The Luxury Closet uses the highest level of authenticity checks on all items, so you can be sure that you’re purchasing the real deal across brands like Chanel, Rolex and Louis Vuitton.
