A haute couture Lebanese fashion designer has opened up about the injuries he suffered due to the Beirut explosion, which took place on the evening of August 4.
Due to the tragic event, designer Rabih Kayrouz suffered from a small brain haemorrhage, two clots and 22 stitches.
Taking to Instagram, Kayrouz shared a photo of himself with a few bandages on post-injury and referred to the explosion as a “horrid calamity”, adding that like many he is still getting over the “shock” from the tragic event.

“I hope that you and your families are in good health,” he added in his post. The designer went on to thank everyone for their messages and prayers which “warmed” his heart and gave him “strength to go on”.
“I am in great care yet unable to answer any calls or messages at the moment,” he explained. “Words are not enough. We will not forget. We will judge. We will rebuild… And we will dance!”
At the beginning of last year, 11 years after being founded in fashion capital Paris, the Maison was given haute couture status.
However, now in photos that are being circulated online the Rabih Kayrouz Beirut atelier – which was a mere 900m from the blast – is a shell of what it once was.

A number of other Maisons have been hugely impacted by the blast, including Zuhair Murad who expressed his utter heartbreak at the decimation of his Beirut atelier.
“My heart is broken,” he said in a social media post. “Can’t stop crying. The efforts of years went in a moment.”
