After years of turning out some of the most desirable pieces in fashion, Alessandro Michele’s magic touch is showing no signs of disappearing.
His next range of handbags for Gucci under the ‘Towards the Sun’ collection presents a refreshing and chic take on some of the brands most iconic lines: GG Marmont 2.0; Gucci Zumi; and Gucci 1955 Horsebit.
Designed to easily slip into your wardrobe and take you from day to night, all of the bags feature familiar hardware and decoration such as the Double G, Interlocking G and Horsebit detail.Let’s take a closer look at your options.
GG Marmont 2.0
First up we have the GG Marmont 2.0 that offers three variations – the flab bag with shoulder strap that comes in three sizes; the camera case in either mini or small, and the top-handle bag that is also available in a mini or a small size.

Can you spot something different? For the first time Gucci has given the metal GG logo a makeover and it is now presented in a shiny silver finish. The colour palette is refreshing and ideal for the summer and ranges from monocolour baby pink, light blue, pastel yellow and water green, to a multicolour version which blends them all together. There are also exotic options available.
Gucci Zumi
Michele loves diving deep into the archives which helped him uncover what we now know as the cool Gucci Zumi bag – named as such after one his of muses, musician Zumi Rosow. Edgy yet classic, the new interpretations come in green and light blue as well as two sizes of the top-handle bag and two sizes of shoulder bag. The same colours are also available in an ostrich finish.
Throwback
Speaking of archives, the creative director has also stumbled upon an old Baiadera stripe print that has a retro streetwear attitude. He translated it onto linen which was then draped over a slim messenger bag (a brand new shape); a half-moon shoulder bag; tote with top handles; and two backpacks.
Gucci 1955 Horsebit
Sticking with the classics, a Gucci 1955 Horsebit bag never fails to stand out. For this collection it has been refreshed in a white leather as a large and medium tote bag with a gold chain strap. For something a little more compact with a vintage flair, go for either the small Horsebit shoulder bag or a small top-handle bag in the Original GG canvas finish with a white leather trim. The top-handle bag is also available in medium.

The Gucci 1955 Horsebit has been imagined in a timeless white leather as a large and medium tote bag with a gold chain strap and leather top handles; there is also a medium version of the tote in the same white leather with longer top handles. The distinctive patterned Original GG canvas forms the basis for a new style of Horsebit small shoulder bag and small and medium top-handle bag, where the canvas is teamed with white leather trim.
Bucket list
Who doesn’t love a bucket bag. Surprisingly spacious and versatile (thanks to the numerous straps) Gucci is paying tribute to this do-it-all accessory by creating a brand new version. It has a semi-rigid circular base that prevents the bag from losing it’s shape, a leather top half and a super-easy-to-use drawstring closure. You can snap it up in a small size in the Original GG canvas with either brown or white leather trim.
