It’s been a little over two weeks since the 24-hour movement restrictions were lifted in Dubai, changing to a curfew from 10pm to 6am in order for the national sterilisation programme to continue.
During these hours movement permits are required, just as they were in place during the 24-hour lockdown.
Under the movement permit scheme, residents could only leave the house for essential reasons which included grocery shopping and doctors appointments.
However, in a statement released on the Dubai Police website, it has been announced permits between curfew hours will only be granted for emergencies.
“Please note that all permits will be automatically rejected except for medical emergency permits,” their clarification read.
Speaking to Gulf News, Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, the Director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency at Dubai Police explained it was “not logical” for people to be buying groceries after 10pm.
In a further warning to residents, on-the-spot fines of Dhs3,000 would be given to those violating the implemented curfews, if caught without a valid permit. While warnings had previously been given, this is no longer the case.
Permits can be applied for via the DXB permit website.
