And she also wore Pakistani brands
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived in Pakistan – their first official visit to the country. This trip will span five days, and will see the royals learn more about the country’s challenges and opportunities.
The royal couple touched down at the Pakistani Air Force Base Nur Khan in Chaklala, Rawalpindi, Punjab, late last night, kicking off their tour. Kate looked elegant as she stepped off the plane, and from the get go, it was obvious that the Duchess is paying tribute to her late mother-in-law.
For her first appearance, Kate opted for a look reminiscent of what Princess Diana wore during her trip to Pakistan back in the ’90s. The Duchess wore a bespoke ombré blue dress with matching pants underneath, courtesy of one of her favourite designers Cathrine Walker.

This look bore striking resemblance to one that Princess Diana wore back in 1996. During a visit to The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital in Lahore, the former Princess of Wales wore a powder blue shalwar kameez inspired ensemble. A thoughtful and touching tribute from the Duchess.

But, this wasn’t the only tribute that Kate made through fashion. The Duchess look also paid respect to Pakistani tradition, while also supporting local brands. The royal’s ensemble was inspired by shalwar kameez – a traditional garment in Asia consisting of a tunic worn overtop pants. Moreover, her look included earrings and a clutch from Pakistani label Zeen.
