Inspired by cultural icons
Here at Emirates Woman, we love new beauty launches, especially if there is a story behind them. So, when we heard that Charlotte Tilbury is releasing a new lipstick collection, we got excited, more so when we learnt that it looked to 11 iconic women and men for shade inspiration.
Back in 2016, the British makeup artist launched Hot Lips, a collection of lipsticks named after the famous women that inspire her. The internet went crazy over the line for two reasons: firstly, their A-list shade names, but most importantly the fact that it benefited a great cause. A portion of the proceeds from Hot Lips went to Women for Women International, an organisation that provides educational resources and financial guidance to women in war-torn countries.
Now, three years later, Hot Lips is back, and stronger thank before. Hot Lips 2.0 has upped the charity game when compared to its predecessor. With this collection, Charlotte pledged to donate £1 million (1.3 million) to charitable partner Women for Women International. One of the 11 shades included in this release was inspired by the incredible British-Lebanese human rights lawyer, Amal Clooney. The lipstick, which has been named ‘Amazing Amal’ is an ‘elegant soft, berry pink’ in Tilbury’s Matte Revolution formula.

In a statement, Charlotte explained the choice behind the colour chosen for Amal. She said: “I wanted to create a soft elegant, berry-pink with the neutral-ness of warm berry, that can be used as a stain, or to add an enlivening pop of colour to any outfit.” The international lawyer has championed Tilbury’s beauty products on many occasions, including her wedding to actor George Clooney, the royal wedding and last year’s Met Gala.

Other icons who got the lipstick treatment are: Modern Family actress, Sofia Vergara; Friends actress, Jeniffer Aniston; J.K Rowling the author behind the Harry Potter series, Australian legend, Kylie Minogue and Victoria Secret model, Alessandra Ambrosio to name a few. Inclusively was a priority for Charlotte, when she was working on this collection. “When I created this range, I wanted to create a new colour world for everyone – looking for gaps in the colour spectrum and mixing the most nuanced, super flattering, super wearable shades!,” she said in a press release. “These shades have super powers, they look incredible on everyone! I always envision the colour and texture, and how they complement each other to make the shade even more unique and incredible.”
The collection will be available starting June 20, and we can’t wait to try them all!
