The Dubai-based jewelry brand uSfuur was founded by Syrian-born Yara Tlass in 2016 with an aim to support refugee communities.
Tlass is a strong advocate for human rights and has partnered up with a Syrian grassroots organization called Myhomeland/Watanilli to donate a percentage from the sale of every piece of jewellery to help support refugee communities in need.
“We are currently working with Watanili, but the long term plan is to expand further and reach out to displaced communities in need from Iraq to Palestine – We care about the Arab world, and this is a cause dear to our heart,” she says.
Her modern pieces carry a meaningful messages and include delicate necklaces, anklets, rings and bracelets, all made from gold and handcrafted in Dubai, and the bird motif repeated in its collections (“usfuur” translates to “bird” in Arabic) symbolizes peace.
