For their first day in the North African country, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the Education For All boarding house in the rural town of Asni, which is located near the High Atlas mountains. The Boarding House enables girls from rural areas to live nearer their school so they can continue their education.

EFO is a Moroccan NGO, founded by British entrepreneur Michael McHugo. According to Kensington Palace’s twitter, “70% of women & girls in Morocco are illiterate. Many have limited access to secondary school or no means of affording transport to school.”

The Duchess impressed the girls with her French speaking skills, with one girl remarking “She was better than her husband!” Moreover, during their visit, 17-year-old student Samira gave Meghan a henna tattoo on her left hand, in celebration of her pregnancy. The student has lived in the boarding house for the past six years.

The 37-year-old looked elegant in an Alice + Olivia blazer and skinny jeans, paired with Birdies slippers and a ‘blanket scarf’ from Wilfred. Later through the day, she had a wardrobe change, pairing her jeans with a white tunic shirt and black slingback heels.

For the remainder of their trip, the couple are set to visit the Moroccan Royal Federation of Equestrian Sports to see how equine therapy supports children with special needs. Their schedule also includes a traditional Moroccan cooking demonstration before stopping by at the Andalusian Gardens to hear about youth empowerment.

This trip is set to be Meghan’s last trip before going on maternity leave, as she is expected to be welcoming her baby sometime in April.
