Those close to the couple who have so far commented on the happy news, include Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. The American yoga instructor issued a statement via Kensington Palace saying that she was “very happy about this lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”
Meanwhile, senior members of the British Royal family including the British Queen, her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, as well as Prince Harry’s father, and stepmother the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the prince’s brother and sister in law, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were said to be “delighted” about the news.
Prince Harry and Meghan have both spoken openly in the past about their desire to have their own children. The Duchess of Sussex has previously said having children was on her “bucket list”, whilst the Duke of Sussex hinted last November that the couple were keen to have children. The prince said in a BBC interview that “I think…we’ll start a family in the near future.”
The pair first began dating in July 2016, following a blind date whilst Meghan was between filming for the TV series Suits. They officially announced they were dating October that year, and became engaged in November 2017. The couple tied the knot at a lavish ceremony in Windsor, close to London on May 19 this Spring.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
