The UAE now shares its place with Romania and Bulgaria and the UAE citizens can now travel to 157 countries visa-free.

Singapore and Germany currently share the number one position on the index list.  Meanwhile Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, South Korea and the USA currently tie at second place.

Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal, Japan, the UK, Ireland and Canada are in third place. The Passport Index credited the UAE’s commitment to progress as a reason behind it climbing to 8th place.

“The UAE’s dedication and vision has given it a solid foundation upon which to build its future,” according to the Passport Index report.  “Its unparalleled advancement is due to progress in technological, educational, investment and infrastructure realms.”

The UAE remains the most powerful passport in the GCC, followed by Kuwait and Qatar.

It looks likely that UAE could position itself among the world’s most powerful passports by 2021, a target set by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council.

Another win for the UAE!
