Government workers will get Thursday June 14 off work.
The end of Ramadan is fast approaching, and now we know what that means in terms of days off for those employed in the UAE’s public sector.
Federal employees will be out of the office from June 14 until the third day of Shawwal, the government’s human resources department has announced.

Exactly how long that is will depend on the moon — if Ramadan ends on June 15, as is expected, public sector workers will also get Sunday June 17 off work.

However, we won’t know for sure until Thursday evening, and no announcement has yet been made for the private sector.
We’ve got our fingers crossed for a long weekend, but it’s by no means a sure thing.
For the most part, Eid Al Fitr is marked by two to three days off for both the public and private sectors. This year, as it falls over a weekend, that might change.

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Holy Month which sees practising Mulsims fast from sunrise to sunset each day.
It also involves shorter working hours — usually two hours for the private sector.
Should Ramadan end on June 15, that would mean a 29-day Holy Month for 2018.
