She’s one of the biggest names in music, she’s a beauty entrepreneur, she’s a philanthropist, and it’s her birthday.
We’re not short on reasons to love Robyn Rihanna Fenty, and the occasion of her 30th lap around the sun seems like a good excuse to talk about a few of them.
Her style is always noteworthy, but we get particularly excited when there’s a Middle East connection.

Join us in wishing Rihanna many happy returns, and dreaming about raiding her wardrobe.
Most recently, Rihanna donned this oversized puffer coat from Lebanese-American designer Norma Kamali. Leave it to Rih to seek out the originator of a trend that’s now everywhere.
This Instagram was posted from backstage at the 2018 Grammys. You can still nab the coat in question, too, but not in white. In camo or black, it’ll set you back $1,295 (Dhs4,756).
You knew we’d get to this one, right? Rihanna’s gown from the 2013 Grammys was from the archives of legendary Tunisian designer Azzedine Alaïa.
From the colour, to the cut, to those sheer layers, it’s one of our favourite-ever red carpet moments.
The Caribbean beauty was among those who paid tribute to Alaïa when he died last November, sharing this pic of the two together:

All the way back in 2010, Rihanna teamed up with Lebanese design powerhouse Elie Saab for her American Music Awards look.
Remember this era? Rihanna was putting out bangers like What’s My Name and Only Girl (In The World), and matching her outfit to her hair.
We’re so glad she did, too. This rich burgundy suits her colouring perfectly, and the embroidery treads the line between daring and just so pretty.
It’s an all-time great.
Flashing back forward to last December, Rihanna wore a long-sleeve from streetwear brand Supreme printed with their logo in Arabic.
Those are sold out, unfortunately, because they’d be in high rotation for us if we could get our hands on one.
Given her local connection, maybe we’ll see Rihanna in a few more Middle Eastern designs before her next birthday.
