More often than we’d care to admit, our outfits are more head-to-toe high street than high end, saying that we enjoy the indulgence of splashing out on a new pair of Kirkwood’s or like to throw in a bit of vintage. Labels aside, everyday you will always see 100% our own style.
Last month Senior Editor Sophia received a call from Chanel, offering us the chance to wear the Chanel tweed jackets around town in true EW Wearing style. Well, lets just say they didn’t have to ask twice? With the Little Black Jacket Exhibition coming to Dubai at the end of the month, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for us to play dress up with the timeless style classic.
We can officially report that the 10 Chanel jackets that arrived were the cream of Karl’s crop.
From the structured black jacket, embellished with pearls, to the Cruise Collection SS/13 tailored pink jacket complete with interlocking C’s embossed buttons, not forgetting the nautical navy number with white piping and oversized pockets. It was almost impossible to pick a favourite. To simply see and touch one of these iconic tweed jackets would make many a fashionista squeal with delight, but to wear one is something special.
Now remember, we are fashion writers and stylists, not fashion models. Yes, we’re more than used to having our snap taken for EW’s Wearing each morning, but this shoot was definitely on another level, especially as the shoot had to fill 10 glossy pages in Emirates Woman April issue – no pressure then!
To ensure the shoot went to plan we had a sprawling suite in the Ritz Carlton DIFC as a dressing room, a hair and make-up team and a top fashion photographer flown in from Germany, well we don’t do things by half when working on this stylish title!

We started the day with a little room service, lattes, fresh juice, pastries and lashings of butter; the breakfast of champions. No model diets for us!

Wearing tweed in the heat is no easy feat, so we take break for refreshments.
