Whether you want fun colour or chic black, you should look to our part of the world.

Regular readers of Emirates Woman will have noticed that we love a bit of red carpet glamour. We’re typically especially pleased when the gowns in question come from this region.

Well, we’re in the thick of the Hollywood party season now, and this week’s red carpets didn’t disappoint. While they’re all our campaigning for Oscars and promoting films, we’re sat at our computers enjoying the gorgeous fashion fruits of their labour.

Join us for a quick look at some of this week’s best looks.

Will Meghan wear a Middle Eastern designer on her big day?

Allison Janney in Georges Chakra

This isn’t the first time Oscar-nominated Janney has worn a Middle Eastern designer – for the Critic’s Choice Awards she went for a shimmering creation from Dubai’s Michael Cinco.

For the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Janney wore a sleek velvet cocktail dress from Lebanese designer Georges Chakra.

With a nipped-in waist and sheer panels, it was super flattering, and the actress looked just right for a formal daytime event.

Lupita Nyong’o in Elie Saab

Think carefully, now. Have you ever seen this Kenyan actress wear anything that didn’t suit her down to the ground? We’ve been huge fans since that pale blue Prada at the 2014 Academy Awards, and she’s got a catalogue full of hits (this royal purple Louis Vuitton being a recent example).

For a Black Panther press conference in Seoul, South Korea, Nyong’o opted for this sheer and shimmering Elie Saab. The Beirut-born designer is notable for his gowns, but as you can see, his more casual numbers still inspire.

We’re huge fans of that pleated skirt, and of course, Nyong’o’s hair and makeup are perfect as always.

Lea Michele in Ashi Studio

Last week she wore Elie Saab, and actress Lea Michele has kept up the good work with this tuxedo-inspired mini from Lebanon’s Ashi Studio.

We love the slightly flared skirt and that obi-style belt – it adds a bit of interest to this simple, classic look. Nice one.

Michele was was attending the NFL Honours in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

Betty Gabriel in Rami Al Ali

Rising star Betty Gabriel was one of the highlights of Get Out (if you haven’t seen it, there’s your homework) and we’re similarly delighted by her choices here. Slightly less terrified, though, that film was unnerving.

That coral tone sings on her, and Dubai designer Rami Al Ali’s well-placed gold embroidery elevates the whole look. Pay no attention to that wrinkling around her stomach, by the way – it wasn’t there in other pictures and the fit overall is sublime.

We’ll continue to keep you updated on the best of Middle East style, here and overseas.
