Yet another beauty queen plumped for Michael Cinco when handing over her crown…
There’s an evening gown parade, various interviews, and a panel of judges.
However Miss Universe seems to have another tradition emerging—that the outgoing winner dons a certain Dubai-based designer.

Miss Universe 2016, France’s Iris Mittenaere, sported a stupendous number by none other than Michael Cinco as she crowned her successor.
The 24-year-old model wore a shimmering scarlet gown for her last walk as Miss Universe at the LA event, before handing over her title to Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.
The Swarovski-embellished ombré number—which featured a fitted bodice and flowing train—was a couture piece, Cinco revealed on Instagram.
In a fitting turn of events the d3-based designer, who’s originally from the Philippines, dressed last year’s reigning Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach, as she crowned Mittenaere.
Wurtzbach specifically requested that he design her gown, Cinco revealed last year—though beauty queens aren’t the only stars the designer dresses.
Cinco, who set up his couture label in 2003, has kitted out stars including Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga and country singer Carrie Underwood, to name just a few.

This Dubai-based designer makes an excellent case for blue bridal gowns…
He’s also a long-time favourite of brides-to-be, and has created gowns for everyone from social media stars to real-life princesses.
This year alone, he’s dressed crystal heiress Victoria Swarovski for her big day, as well as several royals and even his own niece.
Who’s next? We’ll keep you updated (while also hoping it’s us…).
