Barbiecore has been around for all of 2022 and most of 2023 — now thanks to Greta Gerwig’s smashing hit film, it will continue to cast its spell for much longer.

In the global fashion scene, luxury brands like Valentino and Versace have infused this trend in many of their collections, making it a crowd favourite amongst celebrities and influencers. With the recent release of the movie, even high-street brands like Aldo, and Zara Asos have jumped on the Barbiecore bandwagon.

Catching up with the peptide pink fever, the Indian luxury market is now incorporating this wildly popular colour palette into its strong money-making arm – the bridal sector. Recently, actor Kiara Alia Advani walked the ramp for Indian couturiers Falguni Shane Peacock, at the India Couture Week.

Dressed in a mermaid-style lehenga and a barely-there blouse, Kiara represented the modern Indian bride who loves traditions, but in her unconventional way. Although, the stand-out part about her ensemble was the shade of pink. Drenched in the colour of the season, the Kabir Singh actor looked radiant in her head-turning attire, sans any jewellery.

Opening the floodgates for the Barbiecore pink, this wedding season will be all about loud and proud femininity. Faded pastels have dominated the bridal scene for the longest time, it’s only fair for the maximalist pink to resurge.
