Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski showed her Fall 2019 collection for Hermès a couple of days ago and it was display of the brands ability to turn leather into a type of textile.

Unexpected Simplicity

Seems like the French fashion houses are embracing the minimalist sense of dressing but still making it feel indulgently luxurious. It was the same case at the Hermès show where the pieces were of the same quality as you’d anticipate, but purified and toned down making them superbly desirable and wearable – even the tiny leather shorts.

The Theatrics

Vanhee-Cybulski creates a set not too dissimilar to a music auditorium with perforated walls made out of sound-absorbing and reverberating material, along with flickering lights.

Bowie Was There

In song. Clearly the creative director of the French house is a huge fan of David Bowie as the playlist consisted of the tracks only a true Bowie follower would know.

The level of craftsmanship that goes into creating Hermès coats and jackets can be compared to the quality of couture. Every piece of outerwear is precise and exceptional, a perfect example of slow and timeless fashion.

There was a number of standout bags but it’s The Simone Hermès, a new bag in Barénia calfskin inspired by schoolbooks, that caught our eye.
