Simple touches

Fancy giving your space a minor makeover, but don’t know where to start? Breathe new life into your home with five simple tips that will inject some artistic flair into your space.

Add wall art

A large-scale print or painting can become a focal point and draw of attention in the room, but make sure you give it enough space, or consider leaning it against a wall. For the room to have harmony, work to the same colour palette. For example, match the piece of art to the shade of your coffee table or pillow covers. Another approach would be the opposite – if you choose a very colourful print, make the rest of the room neutral. Once you have your hero piece, you can start layering some additional works of art around it for a curated wall.

Work with clay

Terra-cotta, ceramic, stoneware, or earthenware – there are multiple clay options to introduce to your home. Objects made of clay give the feeling of warmth and an artisanal touch. You can start with something you use every day, like dinnerware. Another great artistic layer to your home would through various vessels and vases – a lot of vases can feel like art pieces on their own, they don’t even call for flowers.

Go abstract

Abstract patterns can feel more sophisticated and artistic. The quickest and most effortless way to introduce abstract patterns is by updating textile choices in your room, starting with pillows.

Small details

Miniature decorative objects can be surprisingly powerful, especially when you play around with shapes, materials and texture. Spread those objects throughout the house, organise them in small groups, or display them all together– there are almost no rules.

Invest in a statement piece

Some pieces are worth an investment, especially if you really want to make an impact. We dare you to choose something unusual, especially if you want your room to have that creative edge. Show your appreciation for craftsmanship by selecting some hand carved wooden furniture.
