It’s mid-month madness here at Emirates Woman, so we’re beyond thrilled it’s the weekend! So thrilled in fact, we’ve selected a few things to do this weekend that’ll get your heart racing too, from a nail-biting film release to an insane obstacle course for the adrenaline junkies…

EATING POPCORN AND FOLLOWING THE PLOT TWISTS IN GONE GIRL

After hitting the top spot on the US and UK box office, the thriller Gone Girl is finally premiering in the UAE tonight (October 16). Based on Gillian Flynn’s New York Times Best Seller of the same name, the film stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and Neil Patrick Harris. On the day of their fifth wedding anniversary Nick Dunne discovers his wife has gone missing and because of his odd behaviour he unwittingly becomes the media’s prime suspect. You are not going to want to miss this film directed by David Fincher, the king of edge-of-your-seat thrillers, such as Seven, Zodiac and Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

TAKING ON THE DESERT WARRIOR CHALLENGE

Desert Warrior

We’ve got two very brave, fit and determined (and perhaps slightly crazy) EW staff members taking on the Desert Warrior Challenge this Friday at Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa. The challenge consists of up to 24 extreme obstacles over a 10km course that will test the physical and mental strength, teamwork and fitness of all those that dare to push their own boundaries. The less brave of us will be standing on the sideline with a cool drink of water and hose pipe to rinse off the muddy warriors. For more information visit here.

SHOPPING AT SUNDAY SHOWROOM’S POP UP STORE

The Sunday Showroom

If you sometimes break into an anxious sweat at the thought of going to one of the UAE’s mega-malls over the weekend and crave a smaller, more intimate shopping experience then the Sunday Showroom Weekend Pop-up Shop is for you. Setting up at Captial D’s studio in Al Quoz this Friday and Saturday, you can expect more than beautiful local designer garments and accessories – there will also be music, food by Ghaf Kitchen, art, homeware and more little surprises. For more information on the featured designers and timings, visit here.
