Planning a trip to enjoy the pristine azure waters in the Maldives? We have a tip or two on what should you bring along.
Over the past decade, the Maldives has emerged as the go-to destination for everyone who enjoys a beach vacation with a side of luxury.
While it may be a relaxing vacation once you get there, the prep for it can get quite daunting if you’re an overpacker or someone who doesn’t know how to put a look together.
The key is to carry pieces that can portray versatility and can be used from day to night. Whether you’re lounging on the patio of your water villa, cycling to explore the island or enjoying a beverage at the beach club, it needs to work for it all.
Tip 1: Pick a colour theme that works with your personal style and align your vacation wardrobe to it. If you’re an all-white or neutral girlie, make sure you throw in some chunky gold accessories. Or vice versa, if you’re somebody who likes colour blocking or galavanting in busy prints, break the chaos with some solid accessories.
Tip 2: Instead of different options for day and night dresses, pack skirts, sarongs, oversized shirts and layers that you can style with your swimsuit or bikini after a dip. For candle-lit evening dinners on the sand, carry a mini dress that takes up minimum space.
Tip 3: Carry different styles of bathing suits and bikinis based on your comfort and preference, try experimenting when it comes to your swimsuit, because if not in the Maldives, where will you do it?
Tip 4: Take a giant raffia/straw bag for the beach, which can carry your essentials like sunscreen, lip balm, a hat and a book. For the evenings, try carrying a statement clutch that may not be able to carry much, but will add a touch of elegance to your outfit.
Tip 5: Stackable jewellery, sunglasses, beach flats, funky sandals and giant straw hats can instantly uplift your looks.
Based on all the hacks above, here’s an editor-approved guide for you to shop before your much-awaited Maldives break.
