It was one of the most spectacular night sights since 1948.

On Monday evening, the sky was lit up with a rare super moon so large and so bright that NASA even dubbed it an “extra-super moon”.

(And it was still looking rather gorgeous as it set early this morning).

Super moons aren’t exactly common, but the latest was rather spectacular, with the moon coming the closest to Earth in almost 70 years. That meant, according to NASA, it appeared 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than a regular moon.

A super moon of this size is not expected to appear again until November 25, 2034.

So with no further ado, here’s how it looked lighting up the UAE’s skies…
