We always knew a mall trawl was good for you – but now it’s even more so.

We regularly rack up 10,000+ steps whenever we need to update our new season wardrobe, thanks to the sheer size of Dubai’s sprawling malls.

However one hotspot has just introduced a new way to keep fit – and it won’t cost you a penny.

In a bid to encourage shoppers to embrace a healthy lifestyle, the Mall of the Emirates has launched a new exercise programme, with complimentary classes held throughout the week.

So yes, now you can have a challenging workout, grab a snack and pick up your new mascara or going-out shoes, all under one roof.

Classes are held between Sundays and Wednesdays, with options to suit all levels of fitness.

They also start before the mall opens, so you can work out ahead of hitting the office or enjoying a leisurely brekkie (plus walking through an empty mall, before shoppers swarm the corridors, actually feels pretty thrilling).

Every class begins at 8.30am, with qualified professionals at the helm, and all take part in the air-conditioned mall (hurrah!).

Options include Sunday’s Mall Walkers, which takes guests on loops throughout the shopping destination – think of it like shopping but faster and with more stretching – and Monday’s Mall Circuits, which is similar but includes stops for interval training.

On Tuesdays you’ll find a FlyWheel class, a 45-minute spinning workout on purpose-built indoor bikes.

It’s challenging, but the playlists provide plenty of motivation – and classes usually cost Dhs120 for a single session, so this initiative is a great way to try the sport out for free.
