Here’s where to shop for maternity fashion in the UAE

For a shopper’s paradise, Dubai is a little limited for maternity options.

Help is at hand, however. Inspired by Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s recent announcement that they’re expecting a third child, we’ve rounded up a few local shopping destinations for when your brood is expanding.

Speaking of royalty, one local label even comes approved by Queen B herself. If Beyonce’s worn it, it’s good enough for us.

If all else fails, there’s always the oversized maxi dress option. Or you can make like Blake Lively and wear Elie Saab while pregnant (scroll down a bit).

Remember, there’s another public holiday in the UAE this month…

Mina Roe

Our Lady of the Beyhive has been spotted in this Dubai-based brand not once, but twice. At left above is the Aaliyah dress (US$120, Dhs440) and at right is the Yasmin gown (US$139). Beyonce wore the latter dress at a family Easter celebration this year, and she looked incredible. Our favourite part? At those prices we can actually afford to wear the exact same item as her.

Mamas & Papas

This UK-based retailer has six stores across the UAE, and while they’re mostly about baby stuff, their maternity clothing range has some hits too. The bloom and blossom top (Dhs169) is our pick of the bunch. Mamas & Papas also offer personal shopping, which might be particularly handy if you’re expecting your first. Let someone who knows what they’re talking about take you by the hand.

The Mommy Co

You can’t go past a good pair of jeans whether you’re pregnant or not, so we’re thinking the dark skinnies from The Mommy Co (Dhs299) are a winner. That stripy T-shirt dress (Dhs195) is also extremely cute. This Middle East-based online store offers free shipping in the UAE on orders over Dhs300, so get to filling a cart.

Seraphine

A favourite of celebrities like Gwen Stefani and Anne Hathaway (as well as the aforementioned Duchess of Cambridge), this UK brand has its biggest physical store right here in Dubai. You can find them at the Dubai Festival City Mall – we love the navy pleated dress above (Dhs470), and that slinky black off-the-shoulder number (Dhs261).

Nine in the Mirror

We’ve saved the best (and most dangerous from a Mastercard point of view) for last. Nine in the Mirror is based in the UK, but will ship internationally for £40 (Dhs190). Sure, that’s not cheap, but they stock Alexander Wang and Emilia Wickstead. Those Paul & Joe silk pajama pants above (Dhs1856) are calling our names, and so is the American Vintage jersey dress beside them (Dhs499). One for the true fashion obsessives among us.
