Physical health is key to a long life and good wellbeing, and no where is that more obvious than in the UAE where fitness fanatics are in abundance. However, is your lifestyle making you as fit and sprightly as a 21 year old or making you as achey as a pensioner with arthritis? Take the real fitness age quiz to find out…
Experts at the Cardio Exercise Research Group and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology have created a calculator that reveals your real fitness age after assessing your personal information including country of residence, age, ethnicity, education level, height and weight and activity levels.
Think your daily green smoothies and regular HITT classes are helping you keep young? Well, you might be shocked by the test results. At Emirates Woman some of us were shocked to see six years added to our real age – including a team member who particularly burpees in her sleep and considers a leafy salad as an exciting lunchtime meal.
The World Fitness Level test calculates aerobic fitness age by measuring how much oxygen the body is able to take in. Measured in millilitres of oxygen per kilogramme of body weight per minute.
The researchers say: “Your body’s capacity to transport and use oxygen during exercise (VO2 max) is the most precise measure of overall cardiovascular fitness. Based on the extensive research of The K. G. Jebsen Center of Exercise in Medicine at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, you can easily estimate your fitness level by answering a few questions.”
So, answer away and let us know (in the comments below) about how it went…
