The royal compared the search engine giant to the city of Dubai.
From the Hyperloop trial to the upcoming flying taxis, there’s no denying that Dubai is an ambitiously futuristic city—and that forward-thinking attitude has just been commended by the emirate’s Crown Prince.
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum paid tribute to the metropolis this week as he met with the co-founder of Google.

The royal joined Sergey Brin, who is also president of Alphabet Inc, in Dubai on Tuesday, where the pair apparently discussed their common goals.
“Today I met Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google and president of Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc. Sergey and his friend Larry Page founded Google from a dorm room and today the company is worth over US$600 billion,” Sheikh Hamdan posted on Instagram, along with a shot of their meeting.
“Their goal is to organise the world’s knowledge and make it available for all.”
Google’s story draws similarities to that of Dubai, the royal added, saying both “share a desire to build the future”.
“They created the future of knowledge; we created a model city for the future of urbanism. In cooperation with them, we can contribute positively to the future of humanity,” Sheikh Hamdan concluded.

While we’re not sure exactly what Brin was doing in the city, Google does have a HQ in Internet City, which boasts around 150 employees.
