The royal has been opening up the family photo album online…
He’s the Crown Prince of Dubai, chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, and a noted thrill-seeker… so on paper, we didn’t think we had that much in common with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
However, snapshots from the royal’s family albums show that Sheikh Hamdan’s childhood looked exactly like ours, with technicolour shell suits, grainy birthday parties and plenty of sports days.

The Crown Prince, who boasts a whopping 6.2 million Instagram followers, often shares snippets of his life on the platform, both present and past (and it’s the latter we most adore).
We’ve scrolled through the royal’s feed to find his best #ThrowbackThursdays and most touching insights into his younger years.
Enjoy…
Sheikh Hamdan clearly had a sense of adventure from the outset (as well as great taste in tees).
The royal, who tragically lost his brother Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2015, regularly shares touching tributes to his late sibling.
This is perhaps one of the most heart-wrenching.
Hands up if you had a multi-coloured shell suit like this in your wardrobe back in the day? Yes, us too.
The royal dug through the archives for a photo to mark his younger brother Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s birthday this year, and we adore the one he chose.
We’re not sure exactly when this was taken, but it looks like it could have been during Sheikh Hamdan’s teen years. It also looks like he skipped the awkward phase most of us went through…
See what we mean?
Here’s a rare snap of the young royal with his father, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Baby Faz!
The royal is recognised as a dedicated family man.
Sheikh Mohammed has clearly passed on his love of horse riding.
