Why get the metro, when you can get a cab? Why get a cab when you can Uber? Why get an Uber car when you can get an Uber chopper or yacht? Yep, these are actually conversations that you can now have in Dubai. Talk about living the pampered life…
Just when Uber couldn’t make how we get from A to B any easier they went up a several notches and have given us the option to make travel that extra bit glam, but it comes at an extra cost, of course.

Uber is a private car service that allows to book and pre-pay for ‘taxi’ journey via an app. Previously the options when booking ranged from Uber Select, which saw you picked up in a Lexus or the more premium Black and VIP. Now however, you can also opt for an Uber Chopper, and soon an Uber Yacht.
Uber Chopper is a partnership with Alpha Tours, to offer aerial tours of Dubai at the tap of a button. While officially launched during Abu Dhabi’s F1 in 2015, as a pop-up service transporting VIPs from Dubai to the capital it is now an ongoing service offering Dubai tours through the Uber, with the transport company investing US$250 million into the region.

As an ultra-luxe service, the Chopper is available everyday from 9am to 6pm and can be booked through the Uber app. Demand is high for the service so if there are seats available, the trip will be accepted and someone will call the rider to confirm the flight, collect passenger details and brief them on the flight.
One snag is that the unlike the Uber car service, the Chopper won’t take you to the office, instead it is a 15-minute helicopter tour starting from and landing back at the Atlantis. Prices are also more than your average 15-minute car ride, too, costing Dhs650 person or Dhs530 per person for a group of six.
This Saturday will see the launch of the deluxe UberYACHT. In partnership with Nikki Beach and Alpha Tours, a party will take place at Marina Pier 7 to promote the new service. The UberYACHT party is priced at AED 300 per person, and will provide the ultimate weekend wind-down, with music provided by Nikki Beach DJ’s, unlimited beverages and iconic views of Dubai’s shore, skyline and beyond.
If you want to be part of the launch party simply place a request using the Uber app 48 hours before the party, between 12pm – 4pm on Thursday 28. Each booking can take up to four friends, and following your request, you will be contacted by an Uber rep to confirm the booking. You will then be charged on the credit card you have on file. After the booking you will be sent a unique promo code, which will unlock two free Dhs60 Uber car rides to and from the boat for you and your guests.
Currently, the Uber Yacht is a one-off, but like the Chopper there is potential for it to become a regular service. Either way, we’re excited. What’s next… Uber Space Shuttle?
