Yesterday may have officially marked the first day of spring, but that’s not stopping the downpour of rain in Dubai this morning.
It was only two weeks ago when social media was flooded (no pun intended) with images and posts about the natural occurrences that affected the lives of Dubai residents. Yet, once again, the whole of Dubai woke up to dark grey skies and heavy showers today; and it’s predicted that rainfall in different intensities will be experienced all over the UAE.
Feeling more like a tropical storm – seriously how is it still so hot! – the National Centre for Meterology has indicated that the humidity in the UAE will reach 95 per cent in internal areas today, and 90 per cent in coastal areas. So, fashion-wise opt for the light rain coat and not the heavy Parker jacket.

While the rain is starting to ease off, don’t get your sandals out just yet. Weather reports state the dull weather will continue through Wednesday with scattered showers in the daytime, gradually decreasing during the night.
The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology and local police have also issued warnings for motorists of low visibility and slippery conditions on the road. Most of Dubai has been engulfed in heavy rain clouds coupled with strong winds that could see traffic in the busy streets of the city.

The Dubai Police tweeted: “During heavy rain and unclear vision, please stop in a safe place until the vision is clear enough to drive. Maintain proper safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead.”
Sharjah Police authority requested motorists to “exercise caution and avoid movement in areas of valleys, where there is a flow of torrents and concentration of rain and not go to the sea during these days.”
Meanwhile, Ras Al Khaimah Police sent out an appeal “to all members of the public to follow the weather forecast and avoid the beaches due to high waves.”
