UAE is home to over 200 nationalities

The United Arab Emirates has been ranked as the safest country in the world, according to officials on Sunday. The Gulf country obtained this position as 96.1 per cent of people feel safe to walk outside at night.

According to Gulf News, the announcement was made by Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the Deputy Chairman of Police and Public Security in Dubai, at the 12th International Symposium for Police Best Practices. At a press conference the Lieutenant said, “The survey showed that 96.1 per cent of people feel safe and secure in the country. The UAE’s policies and strategies were behind the achievement to make the country the safest in the world,”

Following the UAE, and coming in second place is Singapore, which ranked with 94 per cent of people feeling safe and secure. Furthermore, this year has seen a decline in road deaths with 3.83 deaths per 100,000 people compared to 4.53 deaths per 100,000 people in 2017, according to Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, head of the Federal Traffic Council.

This is the second study in which the UAE has held a high position in a a global safety ranking. Which? Travel voted the Emirates as the second safest country to visit around the globe. It was beaten by Iceland, which came out on top.
