Ministries and federal authorities will get a public holiday on Sunday November 18, with work resuming on Monday November 19. The holiday had been expected to take place on Tuesday November 20, but an announcement was made by UAE officials, changing the public sector holiday date.

The holiday is usually celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal (the third month in the Islamic calendar), and is also sometimes referred to as Eid Al Mawlid.

Traditionally, public sector holiday dates are announced first in the UAE, with private sector dates often being announced at a later date.

A second long weekend is expected at the end of November too, when the country will celebrate Commemoration Day and National Day.
