If you’ve been wearing the same scent for years but aren’t sure how to go about finding a replacement, we feel you. There are so many gorgeous options out there it can be hard to know where to start. This month, though, experts at the brand-new Perfumery & Co in The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue are offering private consultations in a women’s only VIP lounge, so you can find your new signature. Try scents by Henry Jacques, Parfums de Marly, Xerjoff and Tiziana Terenzi. You’ll leave a new woman.

It’s time to break out the kimono at Moe’s on the 5th this evening. The New York style-restaurant is looking East with an end of season Japanese-themed Sake Sake party. Have a cup of tea and a browse

tania's teahouse

Tania’s Teahouse is one of our favourite recent openings in the city—such a cute spot. There’s even more reason to check it out right now, as the upstairs of this Umm Suqeim eatery is hosting a tropical pop-up shop until Saturday. Shop goodies from fashion brands like Soraya Hennessy and Donna Hourani while you sample some of the Tania’s Teahouse menu. If you’re in need of a few new accessories, this is for you.

High Tea pop-up at Tania’s Teahouse, 779A Jumeirah Road, Umm Suqeim 2, Dubai. 10am-6pm, May 2-5. Tel: (04) 324 0021. taniasteahouse.com

Help Blue Marlin shut it down

blue marlin

The countdown is on for weekends where it’ll be worth going outside, so our advice is to head to Blue Marlin while you still can. This Friday, it’s a candy factory themed event, with music from Carl Craig and DJ Lehar. They’re promising a night of comical and absurd events—if you’re up for that, you know where to go. Dressing up is a must, so get thinking.

Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE, Golden Tulip Al Jazira Resort, Ghantoot, 1pm to 11pm, Friday May 4. Tel: (056) 113 3400. bluemarlinibiza-uae.com.

Try a vegan burger

bareburger

Going vegan can always be tough – especially if you’re accustomed to digging your incisors into chunky of pulled beef messily arranged between a sliced bun. But Bareburger in La Mer which already serves up organic burgers is now offering you a fun way to go vegan. They’re bringing The Beyond Burger from Beyond Meat in America to Dubai. No animals were sacrificed in the preparation of these plant-based burger patties. Plus, you get 20grams of plant protein and no soy or gluten included in every patty. That’s reason enough for us to go vegan – even if only for a single meal.

Shop S13, South La Mer, Jumeirah 1, Dubai. Friday-Saturday 10am-midnight, Sun-Thursday 10am-11pm. Tel: (04) 343 7110. www.bareburger.com

Celebrate Cinco de Maya at Loca

loca

Loca will be hosting a special one-off Saturday brunch to celebrate Cinco de Mayo which marks the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over the French empire. The Mexican staples you’ll find at the brunch are a victory over the sometimes-stuffy French cuisine as well. Expect kingfish fajitas, burritos and taco de chilorio. The brunch includes hops, grapes and margaritas too. In between sets from the DJ, guests can also participate in a traditional game of Mexican Loteria – that’s bingo with a Mexican twist.

Dubai Marine Beach Resort & Spa, Jumeirah Beach Road, Dubai, 12pm-2am. Dhs285 per person. Tel: (04) 346 1111. www.locauae.com
