Start the new year fresh

the spa palace downtown

Maybe you’re already a bit sick of 2018 and need to wind down. We feel you. Why not book in at The Spa at the Palace Downtown? It’ll be more rejuvenating than an after-work happy hour, we promise. Our pick is the Balinese massage, priced from Dhs578, and they also have a traditional hammam room.

…Or have a glass of bubbles

carluccio's

Hey, maybe you’d prefer to wind down over some sparkling. Equally valid. Bellini Bellas is a new ladies night at Carluccio’s in the Jumeirah Creekside hotel, and it offers three free glasses,  with a fourth added on if you post on Instagram tagging the restaurant’s account. Too easy. There’s also 50 per cent off food.

Friday 12

Enjoy a taste of Persia

enigma

It’s the fine-dining restaurant known for its rotation of themed menus, and a new one (designed to share) has just landed. Curated by executive chef Mansour Memarian, Enigma is putting a new spin on Persian cuisine with its just-launched dishes, which include crispy potatoes with minced beef, onion and saffron, an Iranian dizi stew, and falude. Just the sound of that is making our tummies rumble.

Enigma, Palazzo Versace Dubai, Al Jaddaf, Dubai, open Monday to Saturday 7pm to 11pm. Tel: (04) 556 8830. palazzoversace.ae.

Peruse some homegrown gems

Market Outside the Box

We sure have plenty of creative talent right here in the Middle East—and now you can shop a range of independent brands all in one place (well, for a limited time). Market Outside the Box is back for another year, bringing together 120 emerging and iconic regional designers—including Deborah Henning, Emaan Home and House of Fatam—for a 10-day extravaganza. There’ll also be pilate classes, live entertainment and outdoor movie screenings, so check the schedule to make sure you don’t miss anything…

Market Outside the Box, Burj Park, Downtown Dubai, open 4pm to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 10pm on weekends, until January 20. Free to enter. dsfmarketotb.ae.

Saturday 13

Enjoy an outdoor movie

How long has it been since you saw Bridesmaids? Too long, we’re betting. This Saturday has the perfect opportunity for a re-watch, as the popular Urban Outdoor Cinema returns to the Habtoor Grand Resort and Spa Hotel in Dubai Marina. Get your friends together and finish your weekend with some laughs.
