Fabulous news: it’s the weekend. If you’re casting your eye around for something to do, look no further. Whether it’s unlimited tacos, brand-new brunches or spectacular shows, we’ve got you covered.
Restock that beauty cabinet
We’re big proponents of supporting local here at Emirates Woman, which is why we’ll be treating ourselves to a few bits at Bloomingdale’s latest pop-up. The Dubai Mall department store has brought together a range of UAE brands, including Zero Make-up, The Camel Soap Factory and Areej Al Ameerat, in its beauty department to celebrate the Emirates. Well, if it’s the name of helping homegrown businesses, then we better break out the credit cards… (any excuse, right?).
Ground floor, Bloomingdale’s, The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai, pop-up in store until January 13. Tel: (04) 350 5333. facebook.com/bloomingdalesME.
See an iconic show for less
Not had the opportunity to check out Dubai’s resident aqua show La Perle yet? Well, now’s your chance, as the Franco Dragone production is offering some cut-price tickets to celebrate the new year. Between January 2 and 8, you can score Bronze and Silver seats (which usually go for Dhs400 and Dhs600 respectively) for Dhs201.8. The only condition is that the offer is available on a first come, first serve basis while stocks last, so you better be quick.
La Perle, 260 Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Habtoor City, Dubai, special offer on tickets bought for shows between January 2 and 8. Tel: (04) 437 0001. laperle.com.
Check out a newly opened landmark
You’ve probably noticed the iconic structure over the last couple of years, but now you can finally scale the Dubai Frame. The towering edifice in Zabeel Park officially opened to the public on January 2, offering panoramic views of old and new Dubai from its 150-metre-high bridge. So forget any fears you may have about heights and take a ride up the tower’s elevator, because you won’t have seen the city like this before…
Gate 4, Zabeel Park, Zabeel, Dubai. Tickets DhsDhs50 for adults, Dhs30 for kids, free for people of determination and those under the age of three. instagram.com/dubaiframe.

The just-opened Taco Room offers three-hour packages where you can feast on DIY tacos, fresh guacamole and margaritas—plus, if you head down this weekend, you’ll be able to catch the repeat viewings of the Burj Khalifa’s epic New Year’s Eve light show.

Take in some world-class performers
The Cirque Du Soleil troupe are in town for a limited time with their latest touring show, Toruk – The First Flight. The Avatar-themed spectacular, inspired by James Cameron’s 2009 smash-hit movie, charts a battle against a natural catastrophe in the fictional world of Pandora, in a tale set 3,000 years before that of the film. Expect lights, action, and plenty of blue-painted gymnasts.
Toruk – The First Flight, Dubai’s World Trade Centre, Dubai, from January 4 to 17. Tickets from Dhs315. cirquedusoleil.com.
Round the weekend off with a leisurely brunch
If you’re after a dining experience with a side of relaxation, the recently opened Azure Beach club might suit. Its just-launched brunch offers unlimited drinks and dishes served right to your beachside cabana. So yes, you can get some quality vitamin D as you dine.
