Thursday 19

Start the weekend with a fish supper

fish-house

If fresh seafood is your jam, then this recently-opened restaurant in Festival City might just tick all your boxes. There’s pleasingly calming decor, plenty of outside seating, fountain views – and a menu absolutely packed full of fish. The boat-to-plate concept includes dishes such as oysters, charcoal grilled octopus, and fragrant cured salmon, while your pick of fish can be cooked exactly to your taste. Leave room for dessert though (the apple pie is a must)…

The Fish House, InterContinental Dubai Festival City, Dubai, Sun to Thur 12pm to 3pm and 7pm to 11pm, Fri and Sat 12.30pm to 3.30pm and 7pm to 11.30pm. Tel: (04) 701 1127. thefishhousedubai.com.

Enjoy an evening feast with a side of entertainment

Cirque de Cuisine

It’s one of the city’s bucket-list brunches, and it’s back for another year. The Cirque de Cuisine megabrunch is taking place at Atlantis The Palm this weekend, with unlimited food and drink on offer from eateries including Nobu, Yuan, Seafire, Bread Street Kitchen, Ronda Locatelli and Ossiano. There’ll also be live entertainment on the night from Cirque le Soir (think fire-eating, balloon-swallowing and mesmerising dancing), so it’s an extravaganza for the eyes and the belly.

The Avenues, Atlantis The Palm, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, 7pm to 11pm. Dhs535 per adult and Dhs335 for children over 12, tickets available on Platinumlist.net. Tel: (04) 426 2626. atlantisthepalm.com

Friday 20

Celebrate a beach club classic

blue marlin

Blue Marlin is turning six, and to celebrate another year of Ibiza vibes in the UAE, they’re putting on a two-day party. Friday sees DJs Loco Dice and Dubfire take over the beachfront venue, so you can expect a mix of hip hop and house as day turns into night. It’s themed around the idea of evolution, and they’re promising big things. A night to remember.

Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE, Al Jazira Hotels and Resort, Ghantoot, Abu Dhabi, 12pm to 11pm, Friday April 20, free entry. Tel: (056) 113 3400. bluemarlinibiza-uae.com

Check out a newly launched nightspot

seven sisters

It’s the sibling of the popular Beirut bar and lounge, and it’s just opened in Business Bay. Seven Sisters Dubai offers canal views from a relaxed terrace lounge, with live performances, resident DJs and a menu that includes dishes such as sea bass ceviche, short rib yakitori and black cod with gnocchi. We reckon it sounds like an ideal place to take in a Dubai sunset…

Seven Sisters, JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Business Bay, Dubai, open daily 5pm to 3am. Tel: 056 775 4777. jwmarriottmarquisdubailife.com.

Saturday 21

Head to the ballet

weekend ballet

You know the story here, but that doesn’t mean you won’t cry when it ends. The Moscow City Ballet is one of Russia’s largest touring ballets, and their production of the Shakespeare tale is sure to be world class. They’re performing with accompaniment from a live orchestra, so it’s even more special. Why not spend some time in fair Verona this weekend?

Romeo & Juliet by the Moscow City Ballet, Dubai Opera, Downtown Dubai. 8pm April 19 & 20, 4pm April 21. Tickets from Dhs350. Tel: (04) 440 8888. dubaiopera.com

Finish your week with a moment of zen

six senses spa

If you’ve had a rough week, or if you just enjoy the finer things in life, you’re about due a trip to Six Senses Spa. This super-luxe boutique spot has six rooms, each themed around one of the five senses (plus the mysterious ‘beyond’). We spent some time in the touch suite, where 15 minutes in a salt floatation tank and a quick steam warmed us up for our 60-minute deep tissue message (Dhs620). You’re in safe (and extremely strong) hands here. We’ll be back for sure, if just to try the other rooms – the taste suite gives you the chance to create your own body scrub for use in your hammam.

Six Senses Spa, Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Business Bay, Dubai. Tel: (04) 512 5566. sixsenses.com
