We’ve sadly come to the end of this season’s international fashion weeks, but many will agree that the best was kept for last. This season Paris Fashion Week has been a spectacle, both on the runway and the street – Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel even acknowledged the role of the streets by staging their show as a protest, a common sight in Paris.
As the lines between the runway and the street begin to blur, it’s time to mull over Oscar Wilde’s statement: “Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life” – for fashion and fashionistas it may well be a symbiotic relationship.
In the space of a month, we’ve watched the seasons change on the streets of fashion week, from the last of the summer in New York, to the beginning of the cooler weather in London and the autumn colours of Milan. Paris is ushering in the winter with thigh-length boots, cosy knits, leather jackets and fur accessories.
