The happy couple had 350kg of roses scattered from a helicopter onto a yacht.

We brought you news of Bollywood director Japinder Kaur and hotelier Harpreet Singh Chadha’s pre-wedding celebrations back in January, and it’s safe to say they were somewhere north of opulent.

Held at both the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab, the parties had a guest list of 200 and involved Dhs3 million worth of jewellery.

The couple loved their celebrations, but that level of occasion does raise the question of where to go from there.

We’re thinking that the 1,000 guests at the Palazzo Versace and on a super yacht facing Atlantis The Palm probably did the job.

Kaur and Chadha (or HarJap, the combination of their names they created for the wedding) marked their marriage with four days of celebrations and five costume changes.

With so many moving parts, you might expect some drama, but Kaur says everything went to plan.

“It feels tiring but good, we had quite a hectic schedule,” Kaur told Emirates Woman. “We’re very happy and my family is very happy.”

Kaur struggled to pick one highlight, but she did say that the after-wedding party out on the water facing the Palm was very special. They had arranged for a helicopter to fly overhead and scatter rose petals – 350kg all up – over the guests.

It was Kaur’s mother’s dream, she says, and while it had never been done in Dubai before, their Falcon Aviation pilot made it work.

Naturally, Kaur also organised a custom Snapchat geo-filter to mimic the effect of the falling rose petals. It was one of several made for the wedding.

For any bride, the dress is a big element, and Kaur was no different. Her first wedding dress weighed 30kg and had a five-metre train. The look was inspired by baroque architecture, and designers Darsara High Fashion sent four team members to keep it safe all night.

One thing that isn’t exactly commonplace? The HarJap union has its own Instagram account. Kaur says that as an Instagram junkie, it seemed like a natural choice.

“My friends love it, it’s like a mini magazine,” the newlywed says, adding that it was a good way to make sure the 50,000 people who follow her personal account didn’t get swamped with pictures.

Another favourite piece for Kaur? The 22-karat gold crown she wore on the second day of celebrations. Inlaid with diamonds, amethysts, and rubies, it has to be seen to be believed.

We could keep going with these – if you can think of it, this wedding had it – but before we got off the phone, Kaur wanted to extend a special thank you to her brother, who planned the festivities.

“We were all involved [in the planning] but he was the one who was actually doing everything,” she says. “So a very big thank you to him.”

Wishing the happy couple a lifetime of happiness.
