She’s clearly loving a bit of Elie Saab.
Another week, another stunning local design on an international big name. Just while we’re telling Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, to consider adding a little Middle Eastern fashion to her wardrobe, someone else is paying attention.
Brigitte Macron, wife of France’s President Emmanuel Macron, has twice worn Elie Saab on a state visit to China.

Most recently, she opted for an embellished floor-length coat with a high neck for a visit to the Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art in Beijing. How good is that little bit of red peaking through? Not to mention those jewels.
Stunning.
Earlier, the prominent Frenchwoman (who isn’t officially called the First Lady, interestingly) went for a military coat and skinny trousers, from the Lebanese designer’s ready-to-wear line for fall/winter 2018.
Here’s another look at the full outfit. The Macrons are pictured with Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan ahead of a meeting at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.
It’s great to see a public from such a fashionable country as France go for a label from this part of the world. You couldn’t say Macron was short of homegrown choices, but that Saab mix of elegance and cool clearly appeals.
The label shared two pictures of Macron on Instagram.
It’s been a strong week for Saab. At Sunday’s Golden Globes in Los Angeles, the label dressed Lena Headey and Ashley Judd, while compatriot Zuhair Murad was the pick for Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Halle Berry.
All those stars wore black in support of the #TimesUp movement in support of victims of sexual assault and harassment. The red carpet blackout made quite a statement.
