The Crown Prince of Dubai really has his finger on the pulse.

He’s an adventurer, a fitness advocate, and a keen photographer, but it has to be said that HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is a bit of a foodie too.

First it was Kohantei, the super-authentic Japanese spot in Dubai Opera, then it was Business Bay favourite Cuisinero Uno. Now, it’s Masti at La Mer that’s been honoured by a visit from Sheikh Hamdan.

We’re pretty impressed by his choices, to be honest. The Crown Prince of Dubai has a knack for picking recent openings that those in the know are excited about. Our own list of must-dine spots looks to have a bit of overlap with Faz’s.

Masti, which means fun and mischief in Hindi, opened at beachfront destination La Mer late last year. With a gorgeous setting and an inventive, international menu, it’s quickly becoming a favourite.

When What’s On visited, they particularly enjoyed the tuna bhel tartare and the 48-hour slow-cooked octopus, but the menu also has vegetarian and red meat options created with just as much care.

Sheikh Hamdan shared images from his meal on his Instagram story, including this one of Masti’s Lotus tiramisu.

That looks like an absolute essential to us.

We think the time is about right to head down to Masti ourselves. That outdoor terrace is calling our names.

And hey, if we happen to run into a royal or two, so much the better.
